Delhi Daredevils dominated the whole match against Chennai Super Kings on Tuesday. CSK didn't do well with the bat as well as with the ball. Super Kings posed a target of mere 111 which the Delhi Daredevils chased with ease.
Delhi won the toss and chose to bowl first. The match was delayed by half an hour due to rain before the start of the match. It was a bizarre start for CSK as Murali Vijay got out in the first ball of the match even without facing a ball. He was run out by Irfan Pathan in the first ball.
Throughout the innings CSK didn't look to threaten the Delhi bowling attack. Delhi bowlers maintained a good economy rate and took wickets at regular intervals. The highest individual score in Chennai innings was from Dwayne Bravo who scored 22 runs.
Chennai Super Kings scored 110/8 in 20 overs. Morne Morkel of Delhi Daredevils took two wickets and Irfan and Umesh Yadav scalped a wicket each. There were totally four run-outs in the Chennai innings. There has been 20 run-outs in the number of games played until now in IPL 5 including the five run-outs from CSK(four) vs DD(one) match.
With the kind of batting line-up Delhi has the target is just a matter of how fast they finish the match. Naman Ojha and Virender Sehwag opened the innings for Delhi Daredevils. Naman Ojha smashed the first three balls to the boundaries.
That good start continued as Sehwag just embarrassed the bowlers by his hard hitting ability. Sehwag scored 33 runs in 21 balls. Then Kevin Pietersen and Mahela Jayawardene kept hitting and Delhi were sure of a win. Pietersen scored 43 runs off 26 balls while Jayawardene scored 20 off 21 balls.
Delhi won the match by eight wickets and with 6.4 overs to go. This is the biggest margin defeat for CSK in IPL in terms of number of balls remaining. Morne Morkel was given the man of the match for his bowling figures 2-19 in 4 overs.
