It was once again the same kind of scene in the CB series as Indian top order fails for one more time. Australia won the match by 87 runs. India's chances for qualifying for the finals of the tri series is nearly out of the equation.

Australia won the toss and elected to bat first at the SCG track. Australia didn't have the greatest of starts. Praveen striked early with the new ball. He dismissed Shane Watson, captain for today's match for one run in the 3rd over-caught by Umesh Yadav.

Praveen Kumar striked once again by claiming the wicket of Peter Forrest, the in-form batsmen. A ball outside off and with little extra bounce was nicked back onto the stumps by Forrest. In the 14th over Michael Hussey(10 runs) was run out after a slight misunderstanding between him and Warner. The mistake was on Warner as he made a late call.

But Warner was smashing the ball at the other end. He scored 68 runs off 66 balls before he was caught by Raina off Jadeja. The catch also had a negative side as Raina and Irfan Pathan clashed as both were going for it. Irfan went off the field but he returned to the field later.

Mathew Wade came in and himself and David Hussey added 94 runs together steadily. Indian captain brought in Yadav and as he came into the attack, he scalped Wade off a beautiful outswinger caught behind by Dhoni. Yadav also got the other set batsmen David Hussey sooner as Austrlia's score read 212/6.

After that there was not much runs scored as India got back into the game by containing the runs in the last ten overs. Australia scored 252/9 at the end of 50 overs.

Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar opened the batting for India. As usual the top order failed once again. Sehwag was out for five runs. Then Sachin was involved in a controversial run out. Brett Lee was bowling and once he bowled he stopped his run-up and stood in the middle of the pitch. Sachin was running in the same way as Lee was standing. So Sachin had to find a way but before he could find a way reach the crease he was run out David Warner.

Sachin signalled to the umpire but he was given out on 14 runs. Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli got out on 23 and 21 respectively. In this match Rohit Sharma was dropped and Raina was retained but Raina failed to deliver as he got out on 8 runs. India were struggling 89/5.

Not much to say about other batsmen as everybody kept losing their wickets. Dhoni and Jadeja lost their wickets for 14 and 8 runs respectively. Irfan and Ashwin seemed to develop a partnership but it was too late. Ashwin scored 26 runs and Irfan scored 22 runs.

India was all out for 165 in the 40th over. Another top order failure saw India byte the dust one more time. Now India has very few chances of getting into the finals. India need to win the next game against Sri Lanka with a bonus point and Australia need to win the match against Sri Lanka later, with that being said the net run rate between India and Sri Lanka will decide the finalists in the end.
